version 2.6 of WordPress.org is now available, almost a month ahead schedule. Version 2.6 “Tyner,” named for jazz pianist McCoy Tyner, contains a number of new features that make WordPress a more powerful CMS: you can now track changes to every post and page and easily post from wherever you are on the web, plus there are dozens of incremental improvements to the features introduced in version 2.5.

If you have Google Gears:

Google Gears saves some JavaScript in your local computer so that you don’t have to download them again and again when you launch your editing interface. The great advantage to it? You basically can click on the Insert Link button and the dialog box appears with no wait no fuss.

The above, in my opinion, is my favorite new feature of WordPress 2.6. That said, Uzyn, hello Uzyn, time to migrate back to WordPress, haha5…

This is one pretty cool feature - Post revision in Wordpress 2.6:

It makes post collaboration a reality. It probably won’t be that useful for single author blogs such as this. (Image and new source: mdwaffe)

Just saw this at WordPress hosting page. I supposed they sort of recommend these hosts and Media Temple is the second on the list.

MediaTemple

“Hosting that’s ready for traffic spikes. Start your new blog on a clustered hosting platform that’s ready for you to hit the big time. Whether you reach the front page of Digg or get an unexpected shout-out on Oprah, your blog will always be available. Get started right-away with our WordPress 2.5 one-click installer and enough high-speed storage and bandwidth to run a blogging empire.”

If you have to reading my blog, you probably know that I am not too happy with Media Temple these days.

I lost a lot of faith in them when they have storage issues. Sometimes I can’t reach my own blog. But I got really mad when they claimed that my databases are overloaded or something. (more…)

Just saw this in WordPress when it tries to auto save and I wonder what happened:

Did I do anything wrong? If there’s something wrong, it’s that I post too much today.

Here is how you can do a quick replace of a particular word in your WordPress blog:

UPDATE `wp_posts` SET `post_content` = REPLACE(`post_content`,‘color’, ‘colour’);

This replaces posts with the word ‘color’ and change it into ‘colour’. I was doing a whole lot of string replacements to replace URLs that are no longer valid.

WordPress 2.51 is out, with upgrades like:

  • Performance improvements for the Dashboard, Write Post, and Edit Comments pages.
  • Better performance for those who have many categories
  • Media Uploader fixes
  • An upgrade to TinyMCE 3.0.7
  • Widget Administration fixes
  • Various usability improvements
  • Layout fixes for IE

It includes a number of bug fixes, performance enhancements, and one very important security fix. We recommend everyone update immediately, particularly if your blog has open registration. The vulnerability is not public but it will be shortly.

Don’t know if any one would find this useful. I didn’t like cased tags and I just decide that lowercase is the way to go. I know you can do it with CSS but that’s not the result I want.

UPDATE `wp_terms` SET name=LOWER(name);

I had many tags are some are in capitals, some are in small letters, it looks really messy from my admin panel so I decided to clean of every thing. (more…)
