Sometimes lectures can be rather boring…

When lectures get boring

(Hello World, Internet Network.)

This is not any ordinary eraser, it’s a 传家之宝 chuan jia zhi bao eraser.

Seems like examinations is nearing. Less than a week to the first test. It’s math so I think I still can study last minute. Today will be the last day I go out with my friends to enjoy before the examinations. I can’t help but to feel I lacked time.

Just clean up my table

Work is going better, asides for a couple of stupid AJAX problems. It’s time to study. And so… I cleaned my table to be ready to bring out study guides to mess it up all over again.

These are my Singapore polytechnic and secondary school notes all stored in a box. Every alternate year I’ll add more things into this box. And when the box can’t contain more things, I start dumping the really old things.

Singapore polytechnic and secondary school notes all stored in a box

Sort of force myself to keep things within the limits of the box size. My disposal policy goes like this: If it’s something I am not going to use or look at in the next five years, it probably should end up in the bin.

(I still keep one stack of secondary school stuff because they’re my English compositions. I sucked at them but that’s precisely why I keep them - to laugh at myself.)

I’ve been rather busy these days so I had to tone down my blogging. I don’t really have much time to reflect on things too so less the amount of posts. And asides work there is school. I was talking to a classmate online this morning and she made me realized how closed to the exams it really is. I start getting a little stressed with school. Perhaps it’s time to put down some things to start some revision. Anyhow, I took this picture near my work place:

Lots of construction going on here

Construction’s going on near my work place. It’s kinda noisy. This reminds me of Ngee Ann Poly, I used to pass by that area quite often and always wonder how come they never stop constructing. Once they complete something, the engineer’s itchy hands simply have to embark on something new.

And this thing about construction creating jobs and therefore our country loves to construct more things - it’s real I believe.

Okie dokie, back to work.

I was trying to login to SIM (Singapore Institute of Management) student portal and was greeted with the following:

SIM Electronic Course Evaluation feedback

Electronic Course Evaluation (eCE) system

Dear SIM student,

As a student of the SIM, you are invited to give your feedback and evaluate the SIM in the areas of academic and Programme management. Your inputs are very important in helping us assess the overall success of the programme and improve our level of service to you.

Thank you.
Pamela Tan
Divisional Director
Student Care and Academic Services

The course evaluation system is compulsory. This pisses me off. I hate to fill in forms. If I don’t fill the bloody form I can’t access the student portal. And no, logging in and out didn’t work. I’m just stuck at this ‘invitation’ all over again. I have 2 options:

  1. Call the admin to retract the invitation
  2. Do the invitation

You know which one I’ll pick - I guess the latter… I hate to call offices too.

Fatty frog crying

The document continues to elaborate:

The eCE will replace the traditional pen and paper medium and it has the following benefits:

  • will not take up your class time
  • allow you to give us candid feedback at your convenience
  • you have more time to reflect on your comments

Somehow I rather they take my class time… This is not a benefit. It’s waste my time at home. If I will most certainly give candid feedback on the feedback system. Honestly, I totally lost faith in these feedback forms. I don’t see a point doing something I don’t believe in. (more…)

Examinations (find posts tagged ‘examinations’) have yet to begin. I have yet to study (even though I planned to but you know you know) for anything. Yet I’m already looking forward to after examinations already. Here’s a list of what to do after the examinations:

  • Go do some exercise: I haven’t done any since a really long time. I just sit in front of my computer and type.
  • Get back some money: Well, this is a little personal, so…
  • Figure out how to set up an Ubuntu server: This is more for personal learning. It will have Lighttpd, Ubuntu, Python and MySQL, I call it LUMP, haha… And I hope to do something interesting with it too. We shall see.
  • Settle some work: Unfortunately, some of my work is incomplete. I have yet to tie some loose ends and I’ve been really slow in these.
  • Find back my friends: I have neglected them. I’m too busy with my work and school and some self studying. I never met a single friend that is not my classmate or workmate for the past 1.5 months.

Now, back to studying for exams. Oh ya… Before that, I have a comic to share regarding friends:

Friends are important

See how important friends are? I don’t know who is the artist for the comic unfortunately. I got it through an email.

I just realized that almost everyday I start work reading RSS feeds using Google Reader. This is getting so totally unproductive.

I’ve been slightly more busy these days. Picked up quite a few things to do too. Things are more or less stabilizing. Once I finish off my things, I’ll stop a while and enjoy.

Examinations are nearing too. I haven’t started any form of preparation and I don’t have the bloody Steven Alter book too, I might have to hunt it down to study some day. Probably probably it from a friend for a day or two and really really study it.

Anyway, look at my title, look at my blog. Now I really should work.
