BASIC stands for Beginner’s All-purpose Symbolic Instruction Code

Oh so that’s what it stands for. BASIC programming language is first introduced in 1964 as an unstructured programming language. Today one of the more popular dialects is Visual Basic .NET which is by Microsoft. Microsoft also patented the IsNot operator which IsNot funny to most. [Citation very much required]

Possibly related:

  1. In CSI, Visual Basic is used to track IP
  2. It’d be pretty funny to code in Chinese
  3. Why you can’t install Microsoft SQL Server 2005
  4. Microsoft translates Barack Obama to Rudy Giuliani
