Ma.gnolia.com experience data loss and corruption and the service is thus disrupted. I wonder if there are any backups. Seems like it just crashed and recovery is going to be hard.
Dear Ma.gnolia Community Members or Visitor,
Early on the West-coast morning of Friday, January 30th, Ma.gnolia experienced every web service’s worst nightmare: data corruption and loss. For Ma.gnolia, this means that the service is offline and members’ bookmarks are unavailable, both through the website itself and the API. As I evaluate recovery options, I can’t provide a certain timeline or prognosis as to to when or to what degree Ma.gnolia or your bookmarks will return; only that this process will take days, not hours.
I will of course keep you appraised here and in our Twitter account.
Most importantly, I apologize to all of you who have made Ma.gnolia a home for your bookmarks and community. I know that many of you rely on Ma.gnolia in your day to day work and play flow to safely host you bookmarks, keeping them available around the clock, and that this is a difficult disruption.
If you’re a Chrome user like me and my money plant, you’d probably notice how Hotmail just don’t work with Google Chrome. It always piss me so bad when I see a mail I can’t reply. If I don’t reply your mail, it’s really not my fault (innocent), it’s Hotmail’s fault. Anyway, that excuse can no longer be used.
Issue 19025: Add support for UA spoofing, and spoof Safari’s UA string when loading URLs… (Closed)
Add support for UA spoofing, and spoof Safari’s UA string when loading URLs
from *.mail.live.com (to fix hotmail).
Chrome fixed it by spoofing Safari, now Hotmail works. Hooray for Chrome!
I just want to say that I feel a little sense of achievement after knowing that there are at least 1000 tags with more than 2 posts in it. Previously I had so many tags with just one post in them. This makes me a little happier and I don’t know why. You can view my archives here.
I didn’t go visiting too much this new year, ’cause my mom’s got trouble walking. We did visit a few of my cousins’ place. This is my cousin’s baby. He gets attracted to everything except milk:
(Baby wants Pokka Green tea so give it to him.)
I waved my phone in front of him, he wants to grab it too. And here’s a monkey plush toy looking rather happy as usual:
(I also saw Wynn.)
… Even in the year of the ox. And I saw this telephone and keep playing with it. This has got to be the lousiest expensive phone I have seen. It costs around 70 and you take 25 seconds to dial my cellphone provided you got all the numbers correct. What if you get it wrong? You redo! It’s awfully frustrated yet kinda special. I wouldn’t mind having this in my home actually. Pretty cool:
(The old type of telephone.)
To dial emergency number 999 is such pain in the ass. Here’s my cousin’s dog. It got a little pissed while being chained to the gates.
(Cute dog that wears a red shirt.)
What do you call the following fruit by the way?
Lunar new year’s really short this year. It’s busy busy busy again. The whole visiting ends. I wish we could do visitings in a slightly different way actually.
I simply love watching these things get destroyed. Replay for me!
Data Security – Shredder
By the way, you should never just dump your hard drive just like that if you care about security. There’s a chance that files can still be recovered using tools. So if you’re one of those forgetful people who has this passwords file – oh you thought so – “well” hidden using file properties, consider keeping your malfunctioned drive indefinitely. Or if you’re feeling a little bored over the weekend unscrew it and play with the magnets or something.
