Long time since we last met actually. Everybody’s still pretty much kinda same. It’s a good update session on what’s everyone doing. Seems like more people are leaving the country. Kinda sad that more and more people are leaving. Hopefully they’d return after they study.
This is a really nice fountain, it has water and lights. (Like the other 2,304,203 fountains in the world.) Okay, but this one really is a little special, you’ll have to see the lighting to believe it, my camera can’t capture motion.
Anyhow, it’s a good meal. Feeling really full and really tired again. Not good for digestion.
My friend wanted to get Tuesdays with Morrie because he hears it’s a good book. Well, you don’t need to buy it. This is the amount of Tuesdays with Morries you can find in the national library:
I took this is Jurong Regional Library by the way. Sometimes you don’t really have to buy books. Save a little, get them from the library. (And spend the money buying food.)
I was talking to a random person at Plaza Singapura. I don’t remember her name already maybe sherlynn or something. She was telling that it’s leap year that day. I heard ‘libya‘.
Leap Year VS Libya
She: Hey you know today is leap year.
She: Yeah, leap year.
Me: Is that what you call it – libya?
She: Ya, every four years is a leap year. You never heard of ‘leap year’?
Me: Erm… Isn’t Libya a…
She: Leap year is any year you can divide by four. It’s a special occasion for girls, if a girl proposes on leap year, the guy has to accept.
Me: Oh… Happy Libya to you then.
She: Happy Leap Year!
Libya is the country with a green flag, totally green!. Designers went lazy. Well, at least the kids had an easier time. I always can’t drag the Singapore flag nicely ’cause all the stars have to be position this and that way. And we have like five stars on our flag and I sucked in drawing stars. I drew circles instead and got scolded. Luckily I wasn’t born in U.S.A., I’ll have to draw 50 of them.
Okay, I drifted off totally. Anyway, that girl was asking me if I would be attending Coke Zero launch tomorrow, you know the day after Libya. And she had to explain to me what Coke Zero is. Finally I get to taste it:
Oh, so this is Coke Zero.
Seems like examinations is nearing. Less than a week to the first test. It’s math so I think I still can study last minute. Today will be the last day I go out with my friends to enjoy before the examinations. I can’t help but to feel I lacked time.
Work is going better, asides for a couple of stupid AJAX problems. It’s time to study. And so… I cleaned my table to be ready to bring out study guides to mess it up all over again.
These are my Singapore polytechnic and secondary school notes all stored in a box. Every alternate year I’ll add more things into this box. And when the box can’t contain more things, I start dumping the really old things.
Sort of force myself to keep things within the limits of the box size. My disposal policy goes like this: If it’s something I am not going to use or look at in the next five years, it probably should end up in the bin.
(I still keep one stack of secondary school stuff because they’re my English compositions. I sucked at them but that’s precisely why I keep them – to laugh at myself.)
Found a dead cockroach in the balcony… Not the best way to start a day.
Why don’t the cockroach go to trashbin to die automatically?
Or maybe can die outside my house…
I have a dream… that one day cockroaches will all die in the nearest bins.
I have a dream that my house will not have any pests.
I have a dream that one day Singapore will be free of cockroaches.
This is our hope. This is the faith that I go back home with. With this faith we will be able to hew out of the mountain of despair a stone of hope. With this faith we will be able to transform the jangling discords of our nation into a beautiful symphony of brotherhood. With this faith we will be able to work together, to pray together, to struggle together, to go to jail together, to stand up for freedom together, knowing that we will be free of cockroaches one day. (Adapted from Martin Luther King)
Why of all place in my balcony. Why am I the first to see the cockroach.
Searching for kahwee online in Google.
You basically get Death as the first page in this blog. Kinda funny. Kinda sad too. Death is best Google can say about me.
If you hate China and stage a protest, maybe your protest tools come from China.
‘Free Tibet’ flags made in China
Police in southern China have discovered a factory manufacturing Free Tibet flags, media reports say.
The factory in Guangdong had been completing overseas orders for the flag of the Tibetan government-in-exile.
Workers said they thought they were just making colourful flags and did not realise their meaning.
But then some of them saw TV images of protesters holding the emblem and they alerted the authorities, according to Hong Kong’s Ming Pao newspaper.
Thousands of flags had already been packed for shipping. (Source: BBC)
It’s been a long time since I seen these buses – brown, old and noisy. Not aware they’re still on our roads. It’s a rare sight for me. Maybe because most of the time I took bus 61 and they’re all new buses.
The picture’s intentionally blurred. Well, if you spot your dad in it, I’m sorry.
This is really silly but I have always thought ‘inexpensive’ meant that it’s really expensive and just two-and-a-half minutes ago, I realized I’ve been wrong for 20 years.
